The Don Pitcairn Tournament Goalie Award

This award is presented to the tournament's "Most Outstanding Goalie" as voted on by the players and Team Reps.

In memoriam of Don Pitcairn 1947-1987: Employed at Moncton ACC, Don was an avid participant in ATC hockey tournaments. "Pit" died Feb 2 , 1987 and is remembered for his love of the game on and off the ice. His memory is a tribute to this award presentation.

Denis Ritch Outstanding Defenseman Award

This award is presented to the tournament's "Most Outstanding Defenseman" as voted on by the players and Team Reps.

In years past, Jake Jacobson said a few words about Don and Denny, and then with the nominees for both awards, toasted their memory with a homemade bitters drink. According to Jake, the origination of "the bitters drink" was the year after Denny died. "He played for us in NY and I conceived that through all the happiness and jocularity of the tournament, there should be a somber and remembered time for our fallen brothers. I combined the goaltender and defenseman award along with the drink that symbolizes the tears and pain that so many felt at the loss of these two great persons who I had the pleasure of knowing. What I say at each event is basically the same each year. I ask for quiet and then tell the story of how each man met his demise. The drink symbolizes the hurt and emptiness created with the passing of these guys."

"TO DIE IS TO BE FORGOTTEN;

TO LIVE IS TO BE REMEMBERD;

LONG LIVE OUR FRIENDS AND TEAMMATES THAT ARE NO LONGER WITH US." ~Jake

Pierre Marcoux Espirit-de-Corps Individual Award

Presented to the person that demonstrates the highest "Espirit-de-Corps" in support of the International ATC Hockey Tournament. An individual may win this award only once.

Canadian Forces Base Bagotville "Pauls" hosted the 1991 Tournament. We were and still are the only military team to host this prestigious event. At that time it included 14 teams with 6 from the USA, one from Finland, and the rest from all over Canada. Pierre Marcoux was a captain in the Air Force who was a terminal controller. He was also an avid hockey player. Six months prior to our tournament he contracted incurable cancer. He faded quite fast and passed away prior to the tournament. He was real fun loving, a team player with a great sense of humor and fair play. We therefore decided to create an Espirit-de-Corps trophy in his honour, one that could be passed on for years to come to the individual who demonstrated the attributes worthy of the prize. Also at the same tournament, we hosted a charity game of ATC all stars chosen from all the ATC teams who played against a team of ex-NHL and junior players. Their team was led by Jacques Lemire and Rejean Houle. In total we raised over $3000.00 for cancer in Pierre Marcoux's name. ~Harry Gerstheimer

Espirit-De-Corps Team Award

Presented to the team that demonstrates the highest "Espirit-de-corps" in support of the International ATC Hockey Tournament.

Best Uniform Design

This award was established in 1994 for the Las Vegas tournament and is presented each year to the team with the most original and outstanding uniform design.

The original best uniform design trophy with a flying turkey on top, designed and built by Bill Liberty and John Callahan from Cleveland Center, was retired in 2006 due to its size and airline baggage restrictions. The new trophy and accompanying photo album displays the current award winner as well as each previous winner. Arguably the most popular tournament award, teams go crazy with designs as well as props to win this most prestigious award. The Bagotville teams are recognized as the inspiration for this award because of the unique jerseys the brought to tournaments.

Horse's Ass Award

Presented to the person that makes the biggest ass out of themselves during the week. A person may win this over.....and over....and over......and...over.

Last Place Award

Presented to the team that demonstrates the highest level of losing games, not scoring goals, and getting very few points. It takes great skill to best "double-digit numbers of teams" to win this award. Congrats!

The Benediction

"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth.

On the second day, God created the lakes, the rivers, and the seas.

On the third day, God created light...and CHRIST, YOU COULD SEE FOR F*@#ING MILES."

"The benediction was started by Roy Wasilkowski, in the 70's. The "WAZ" was an ordained minister, some type of correspondence course ministry, but he was and I saw the certificate, because he wanted to marry Viv and I. The words of the benediction are partially from the Bible.... and the rest from the Waz." ~Jake
